My hometown is Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang. My academic qualifications include an MBBS degree from the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (MAHE) in the year 1996. I joined the Surgical training programme under University of Malaya in the year 2000 and successfully graduated with a Masters in Surgery in 2004. I pursued my career in Urology by joining University of Malaya as a Clinical Specialist in 2005 and subsequently was offered a slot in the Urological training programme in 2006. I successfully attained the Malaysian Urological Board certification and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Urology, Glasgow, UK in the year 2009. A PhD in prostate cancer genetics and androgen metabolism followed in 2015 from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK.
I have worked at several MOH hospitals like Hospital Ipoh, Hospital Mentakab, Hospital TengkuAmpuanAfzan, Kuantan, HospitalTemerloh before settling down at University Malaya Medical Centre. Also had a stint at the Bristol Urological Institute as a fellow.
I have lots of interest in training future doctors, surgeons and urologists and hence persisting in academia, which allows time for clinical work and research apart from training.
